Another Chelsea Loft - It's All About Those Walls

$2,495,000, tax: $1,366, cc: $1,159
unknown sf, 1 bd, 3 ba

This loft just hit the market today. Though I don't love the neighborhood ("North Chelsea"), I really do like the building. It was a commercial loft building converted into condos. Am loving what the owners did with the walls.

I also like how they integrated different pieces of art throughout the apartment. Love the use of blue in the bedroom - and the glossy zebrawood (?) wardrobe - breathtaking! And some of the pieces - is that a Karl Springer coffee table I see?

What I didn't like was the media room (just seems too narrow , and the rust color walls was just off), and the stools in the kitchen seem a bit out of place) . All very minor things!

This building is one of the very rare ones in NYC where I've consistently seen windowed bathrooms - believe me when I tell you that is such a luxury to have!

Mix and Match on West 26th

OK, I needed to balance out the first post with an apartment that caught my eye for positive reasons.

$1,845,000, Maint/CC $1,347
1,686 sf, 2br, 2ba

There's something about this apt. in Chelsea and the way that the interior was put together that really caught my eye. This is the entrance area, I love the gilded mirror leaning against the wall with the chair and the sofa. The pillows add just the right amount of color. I would have put different pieces on the shelves on the right, probably vintage crystal with a bold shape for the contrast.

The living room shows more of the same mix of great pieces that mix very well together. The glassy boxy chandelier with the organic feel of the wood dining table. The tufted sofa against the polished concrete floors. The mix of traditional and modern and light and dark just really, really works!

Welcome... and Patriotism is Alive and Well on East 57th

... I have been searching for an apartment in NYC for almost a year. In that time, I've seen A LOT of apartment listings and some of them, well, I think they deserve a bigger audience. So, I've started this little blog to highlight apartments that catch my attention in some way or another... whether they are breathtakingly beautiful or painfully ugly... or just plain amusing! Questionable tastes come in all budgets, and this apartment is a perfect illustration...

$2,995,000, Maintenance/Common Charges: $5,409
3,300 sf, 4br, 4ba

Over 3,000 square feet and almost $3M in midtown. Listing description states "a special paradise". Sure, if your idea of paradise includes a larger then life double eagle chair...

and a chair masquerading as a giant skinny hand - imagine bumping into THAT in the middle of the night as you get your water!
